Traffic Overlays
Add traffic and release context without cluttering the chart.
Overlays are optional lines/markers that provide context for visibility changes.
Design constraints
- Keep the chart readable with GSC as the primary signal.
- Add context lightly (one extra line or markers).
- Put detail in tooltips, not in extra panels.
Available overlays
- GA4 sessions: a single sessions line with richer tooltip context.
- Bing: compare engine movement for the same date range.
- Vercel deployments: markers for deployment timing.
When to enable
- You’re investigating a specific movement window.
- You want to answer “visibility changed — did traffic change too?” quickly.
