Understanding Metrics

What clicks, impressions, CTR, and position mean inside ConsoleViewer.

ConsoleViewer mirrors the core Google Search Console metrics, then layers in optional operational overlays.

Core metrics (GSC)

  • Clicks: visits from Google Search results.
  • Impressions: how often your pages were shown in results.
  • CTR: clicks / impressions.
  • Position: average ranking position (lower is better).

Change views

Most tables support views like:

  • All: the full dataset.
  • Growing: rows trending up for the selected range.
  • Decaying: rows trending down for the selected range.

Use these to separate “noise” from actual shifts.

Overlays (optional)

Overlays add context without turning the dashboard into an analytics product.

  • GA4 overlays: traffic context for visibility changes.
  • Bing overlays: divergence between Google and Bing.
  • Vercel deployments: timing context for releases and rollouts.

Overlays can be enabled per project and may be limited by plan.
